TIME TO REMEMBER

Make a Poppy
Make a Poppy

500 men from Ryde fought for their country in the First World War and lost their lives. You can help us to remember and honour them by making a simple poppy for our Garden of Remembrance in the South Chapel at Ryde Cemetery.

You can call in to the cemetery any time Monday to Thursday from about 10am to 4pm when John Martin, the Sexton, is on site and it only takes a few seconds to make a poppy.

This project which has been influenced by the Garden of Remembrance at the Tower of London and this is Ryde Social Heritage Group’s smaller but no less poignant tribute to those lost from Ryde.

The installation will be at the Cemetery and ongoing throughout October and November and part of our First World War exhibition will also be on display for the duration of the project.

A short memorial service will be held at the Cemetery on the evening of November 11th at 6.30pm all are very welcome.
