Event at St Michael’s 5 March 2016

St Michael's Church Swanmore

St Michael’s and All Angels Church, Swanmore held another morning of memories, this time with a childhood theme.  Four members of the Ryde Social Heritage Group went along and enjoyed chatting with others, photographs were passed around, toys and games were discussed. There was a display of vintage toys which many remembered playing with. It was a very sociable morning.  The tea, coffee and home-made cakes were extremely welcome.

Denyse Rees gave a very interesting and enlightening talk about the Chernobyl Children and the families affected by the disaster in 1986.  The proceeds from the raffle were donated to that charity.

The morning concluded with a short service in the Lady Chapel, to remember all mothers, it being Mothering Sunday the following day.
