Visit to Ryde Fire Station

Members of Ryde Social Heritage Group visited Ryde Fire Station on Tuesday evening 24 April 2018. After a very interesting tour of the station, they were given a most entertaining and informative illustrated talk by Damon Corr. Damon has been researching people and events relating to the Ryde Fire Service, from its inception. He spoke without notes and his knowledge of the subject was colourful and amusing. It was obvious he had given a lot of time investigating firemen’s lives in Ryde, the dangers they experienced, and still do, and the charismatic people involved over the years.
