Latest news

Our Researchers were busy again in October and have updated 28 records with information gleaned from a variety of records including census records, directories and death and funeral reports from local newspapers.


RSHG held its AGM at the George Street Centre in Ryde at 10:30am on Saturday 13th October. The meeting was well attended with 32 members and 10 guests.


Over the weekend of September 8th and 9th the RSHG held two open days at Ryde Cemetery as part of the National Heritage Open Days event. This annual event has been set up to allow people to explore places of interest for free and learn all about their own local history. This was the first time RSHG participated in the Heritage Open Days programme.


On Saturday 1 September Carol, Rachael and I went to the Annual Open Day at the IW Crematorium at Whippingham. Now you might think that's a strange way to spend a Saturday afternoon, but all the team who work for Bereavement Services at the Crematorium, are very helpful to us as a Group and we thought it would be good to go and find out a bit more about the work they do.
