February 2009 Additions to Records

Our busy Research Team, lead by Ann Barrett, added detail to 29 of the records on the website in Feburary 2009.

This month’s additions include information about the military funeral of Signaller Donald R G Scovell in April 1920; death notice and funeral report for Dr James Player Lind in 1860, he was a controversial character in the town; information about Robert Milligan who despite being severely wounded at the battle of Waterloo spent almost 60 years in Ryde where he was respected gentleman; and a death notice for Mrs Bevins the widow of John Bevins of Bevins drapery shop in the High Street. Census, marriage and directory information has been added to other records.
