RSHG invite you to the annual RSPB BIG Garden Birdwatch at Ryde Cemetery Saturday 29 January 2011 10am to 12 noon.

If you would like to participate in this event please come to the Ryde Cemetery Learning Resource & Heritage Centre where we will have all the materials you will need for an hour’s bird watching in Ryde Cemetery. There will also be reference books available to help us to identify any birds we are unsure of.

Tea, Coffee and biscuits will be available (for a small donation) and if it is a chilly day you will be able to warm up in the Heritage Centre.

RSHG first started to participate in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch in 2008 and took part again in 2009. Unfortunately bad weather prevented participation in 2010, but we are keen to survey the birds in the cemetery again this year. If you come along and participate you will be helping us record the birds that can be found in the cemetery and by comparing this year’s results with previous years we will begin to get an understanding of any changes in populations of species of birds.

All the information from the Ryde Cemetery Big Garden Bird Watch will be collated and sent to the RSPB to help with their national survey and the results will be published in March.
