DEAD GOOD MATHS

We have added some maths lessons to the Education Section on the website. The lessons are called Dead Good Maths and include lots of fun ideas and exercises for children to enjoy while using the cemetery as a place of learning. All the lessons have been tried and tested by children from Dover Park School and it was the children who came up with the fantastic title of Dead Good Maths.

Kate MacDonell and David Earle both worked very hard to design the exercises and the worksheets and we are grateful to them for giving their expertise and time to this fantastic project. Thanks also to the children from Dover Park School for their enthusiasm and whole-hearted participation in testing the exercises for us.

Included in the pack which can be downloaded for free are exercises on surveying, counting, measuring, angles and calculation. The Learning Centre in the Cemetery can be booked and used as a base and classroom while the children work in the Cemetery and the Inclinometers can also be borrowed for measuring angles.

Children really enjoy visiting the Cemetery for their lessons and volunteers from Ryde Social Heritage Group are always happy to assist with the lessons.
