WE WON A NATIONAL AWARD!

CAHG Award
CAHG Award

On Wednesday 10 July Carol, Kate, Shelagh and I attended the Community Archives and Heritage Group Annual Conference at UCL in London.

It was a fantastic opportunity for us to network with other local history groups and professional archivists.
There were lots of fascinating talks during the busy day.

A big feature of the day was the presentation of the awards for Community Archives and Heritage Groups.

There were four categories of awards:
* “Best Online” which was won by Beyond the Point a website run by two amazing 16 year old boys from Canvey Island Beyond The Point
* “Most Innovative” which was won by Six Streets Derby Six Streets Derby
* “Best New” which was won by St Margaret’s Village Archive

AND

* “Most Inspirational” which was won by us – Ryde Social Heritage Group!

From the four categories an overall winner was chosen as Best Community Archive and Heritage Group and that went to BEYOND THE POINT. If you check out their website you will see why they so deserved to be overall winners. Well done Liam and Joe!

Here’s our lovely certificate:

Receiving the award for “Most Inspirational” group is a fantastic tribute to all the hard work put in by our many volunteers and the support we receive from all our members. Well done everyone. I am so happy and proud of you all.
