MAY 2015 BIOGRAPHICAL ADDITIONS TO RECORDS

In May our Research Team added biographical information to 51 records on the website.

Lots of interesting stories were uncovered by our Research Team in May including:

* Report of the death of Arthur William Attrill in May 1964 at the age of 68. Mr Attrill had served in the Royal Navy and had seen action in the First World War on HMS Hercules at the Battle of Jutland.

* Report of the death of Mr Samuel Biggs in February 1917 at the age of 84. Mr Biggs was employed by the Ryde Pier Company for over 60 years.

* Report of the death or Mr Percy Lewis Blakely in April 1958 at the age of 80. In 1906 he had purchased the George Street pharmacy and built up one of the largest dispensing businesses on the Island.

* Report of the death of Harold Percy Dibbens in October 1977 at the age of 71. Mr Dibbens was head of the haulage and removal firm of E Dibbens & Sons Ltd. He was also a member of the East Medina and Vectensian Lodges and the Vectensian Chapter of Freemasons.
