Above the door of the Nursing Home

This building in West-street was erected in loving memory of Robert & Elizabeth Milligan by their daughter Sophia Milligan, in 1880.

 Robert Milligan – his memorial in Ryde Cemetery states that he was severely wounded at the Battle of Waterloo when a lieutenant in the 11th Light Dragoons and afterwards entered as a Captain the 2nd Life Guards. He died 21 September 1875.

Elizabeth Margaret Milligan the only daughter of Dr. Matthew Baillie, of Scotland, and wife for nearly 60 years of Robert Milligan. She died 25 June 1876

 Sophia Milligan who founded the Convalescent Home in connection with the Infirmary, was the only child of Robert & Elizabeth Milligan. She died 17 September 1893
