Official Opening Ceremony Tues 3 Aug 2021

Inside the Research Room

We were very much blessed with glorious weather for the official opening of our New Research Room at the West Street Cemetery Resource Centre this last Tuesday.

Cutting the Ribbon

A lot of hard work went into the preparation for the Research Room, being cleaning, new displays, research and other new additions.  We had tables and chairs outside for the ceremony ,and Ann Barrett our Research Co-ordinator and founder member, was able to cut the red ribbon to open it to resounding applause.  About 30 members, friends and other visitors were able to join us to peruse the two new displays on “The Carnival” and “Sport” in the South Chapel.  Our Carnival display will also be able to be seen in the window of the old Miss Packs building, on the corner of Cross Street, Ryde during the whole of carnival week, 22-29 August.

Lots of people also came along to look through our archives that we have in the North Chapel where refreshments were also being served.

It is so encouraging to see people coming to support us, and as we can now use both chapels, hopefully people will feel much safer too.

We thank all our volunteers, researchers and members who help to keep RSHG running.  It can be hard work at times, but is so rewarding and very much enjoyable.  Fun all the way.
