Heritage Fair

We had an amazing time this last Saturday the 4th March, 2023 at “Department” for The Heritage Fair.  This involved around 20 organisations joining together at Department in Cross Street, Ryde with the aim of producing volunteers for Ryde Social Heritage Group and others.  We had prepared a completely new display for the day, which we had compiled over several weeks.  There was publicity material, many photos to show what we do, and where we are and it very much lifted our profile. There were a lot of people who attended and especially at the beginning it was very busy.  Margaret and I managed the “stall” while Ann was on hand to help with peoples requests and research queries.

Many people took our details to come and see us at the cemetery.  We are very pleased to have new members, but we very much need volunteers to help with the mountains of work involved with running and keeping the RSHG going.  This Fair also enabled us to advertise on “The Volunteer” website.

It was a fun day, even though it was a long day as we arrived at 9am to set everything up and the fair finished at 3pm. Thank you for all the help in making this day successful.
