Members AGM & Social Morning

Barbara Hunt as Chair, welcomed the many who attended on Saturday morning 7 October 2023, it was a fine day and we had 45 people at this year’s AGM, including 9 visitors and our 2 speakers.

Barbara asked if there were any questions about the reports which members had received earlier.  Mike Parsley, treasurer, was not present at the meeting. Mike Fitt proposed and Kerry Birch seconded the reports. This was carried unanimously.

Election of Committee.  Barbara read out the nominations.

Barbara Hunt: Chairperson
Ann Barrett: Membership Secretary
Margaret Truckel: Minute Secretary
Michael Parsley: Treasurer
Jennifer Moring: Committee Member

Kerry Birch proposed and Hilary Lloyd seconded this. All were in agreement.

After the business part there were refreshments and time to socialize followed by the drawing of the raffle.

A talk on the Rogues of Ryde was presented by Linda Scurr and Simon Dear, which was greatly received. Their information on the ‘offenders’ was mainly from the newspapers of the day, with some names cropping up more than once.  The more serious crimes saw the offenders sent to Winchester Assizes for trial, imprisonment with hard labour was the sentence for the worst prisoners
