IW Arts & Heritage Volunteer Fair 14 April 2024

Ann and I had a very enjoyable time at the Isle of Wight Arts and Heritage Volunteer Fair last Sunday at Havenstreet Railway.  There were 24 groups represented with the aim to be able to network and encourage visitors to become volunteers.  On our last outing we were able to recruit volunteers for our “Outside” group for RSHG with the clearing of graves and other duties.  Our display had photos and material about “Early Ryde,” as well as a display about some shops in the High Street. We were able to advertise our opening times, and  “The Ryde Heritage Audio Trail.”

We were however, rather disappointed that only 2 of our members came along to give us their support, Ann and I spent over 6 hours at this event as well as all the time taken to prepare for it. It would be lovely if we had had some support from more members, as this was hard work, but very enjoyable. The day was very bright and we were amazed with all information about the other groups, but were able to hold our heads high.
