Social Morning 6 July 2024

Cowdray Engraving

We were pleased to have many of our members and some visitors, turn up for our Social Morning at the George Street Centre, Ryde, today, Saturday 6 July.  Plenty of chat going on, and of course the usual refreshments and raffle in aid of group funds.

We all enjoyed a great talk and presentation by Dr Dominic Fontana, FRGS FSA. Everybody was very impressed by the amount of information we were given, it was so interesting.  It was also obvious by the amount of questions asked of Dr Fontana at the conclusion of his talk, how much interest had been generated.

Our new format for the social morning seemed to go well. All in all, a very successful get-together.

Note:
The image comes from the Cowdray engraving showing the sinking of the Mary Rose, Southsea Castle and Henry VIII himself on horseback.
