July 2006 – More Cemetery Walks

RSHG held two more walks in the Cemetery during Ryde Arts Festival week, one on 9th July at 2:30 and one on 14th July at 7:00. If there is sufficient interest (10-12 people) we will plan a new route for August, with different graves and stories.

Two cemetery walks were held in July during Ryde Arts Festival: one on Sunday 9th July at 2:30, and the other on Friday 14th July at 7:00. The groups met at the gates on West Street, and took a tour of 20 or so selected graves, taking about an hour and a half.

The Leaders were Janette Kitching and Sally-Ann Garrett, who provided information about the people buried in the graves, and pointed out additional items of interest. This year alone, more than 100 people have been on this tour.

If there is sufficient interest, we will plan two more walks for August, with a different selection of graves and stories. Please let us know if you would like to join a new tour, by leaving a message on the “Contact Us” page.
