September 2006 – RSHG Members Meeting

A Members meeting was held on 9th September, in the George Street Centre, 10:30 to 12:30

A Members meeting was held on 9th September, in the George Street Centre, 10:30 to 12:30. The Agenda included:

· Arrangements for future meetings in 2007 – Janettte facilitated discussion on the future conduct of meetings, by organising a small group activity, where members could feed back on requirements, rules and roles
· We discussed actions from the previous meeting 24 June 2006
· Members had the opportunity to ask questions about the reports from the sub-groups
· We discussed resource packs and liaising with schools
· We talked about making recordings by interviewing people for Living History research
· We talked about arrangements for the AGM on 11 November
*Sally-Ann presented members with a copy of the financial statement in Matthews absence, and mentioned that we have received the second component of the LHI grant.

We will also discussed the possibility of a membership fee to cover the cost of postage, and printing the Newsletters and other correspondence to members. The agenda had a form that members could complete and hand in. The responses will be analysed.

Currently, we have over 70 members, and have recently formed several subgroups for Mapping, Transcribing, Publications, Fund Raising, Family History and Natural History to name a few. We will need a finance group, and there were suggestions for other subgroups.

The members’ meetings will be quarterly from January 2007, (January, April, July and October) but subgroups may meet more frequently. An AGM will be held in November 2006 – details to follow shortly. A draft Constitution was given to the members who attended, and will be forwarded to those who were unable to attend.
