August 2007 – Heritage Open Days in Ryde Cemetery

Heritage Open Days

As part of the National “Heritage Open Days” Scheme Ryde Social Heritage Group will be hosting two Open Days in Ryde Cemetery on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th September 2007 from 11am to 4pm each day.

There will be gazebos in the front garden of the Cemetery Lodge with display boards and tables showing some of the results of our research into Ryde Cemetery, the people buried there and the roles they played in the development of the town.

There will also be guided walks in the Old Parish Cemetery and the area of the Old Cemetery to the east (i.e. West Street side) of the Central Chapels.

Members of RSHG will be available to talk to visitors about the Cemetery and the history of the town.

Why not come along and meet us and find out some of the fascinating facts about some of the people buried in the Cemetery?

(Note: Unfortunately we registered too late to be included on the IW Heritage Open Days leaflet this year)
