March 2009 Additions to Records

Our busy Research Team, lead by Ann Barrett, added detail to 47 of the records on the website in March 2009.

This month’s additions include information about Capt de la Condamine who had a distinguished military career in Australia before returning to England; information about a memorial erected in the cemetery to the memory of George John Comden who was buried at sea; death notice and information about the military career of Sir John Stewart Wood; details of a memorial service for H J Dewey and C H Weeks, two firemen of Ryde who were killed in an air raid at Cowes in 1942; the funeral of the Rev J Telford; the sad death of Mrs Lucia Slade who died at the young age of 19 years; two inquest reports; marriage reports and other detail gleaned from census records and directories.
