An Invitation from Barnardos

COME AND MEET BARNARDO'S! at Ryde High School Wednesday 28 October 6pm to 8:30pm

COME AND MEET BARNARDO’S!

Children’s charity Barnardo’s is hosting an event at Ryde High School on Wednesday 28th October to offer local residents an opportunity to learn about its fascinating history, and the work it is doing today across the UK, including on the Isle Of Wight.

The event, taking place from 6pm, will provide an insight into how Barnardo’s supports local children, young people and families through partnerships with schools in the local Ryde area.

Barnardo’s runs a diverse range of projects throughout the UK, including Ryde Extended Services which works with eleven partner schools in the area to deliver a range of activities and services, often beyond the schools days, to meet the needs of pupils, their families and the wider community.

Much of the charity’s work depends on donations from the public, and almost half of all income the charity receives from the public comes through donations in wills, which the event will also highlight.

Paul Beard, Regional Development Officer at Barnardo’s, said: “The evening provides an excellent opportunity for the public and supporters to learn about Barnardo’s heritage, and the excellent work it undertakes for the benefit of children and families across the South East and UK.

“With the event being held in Ryde High school, it shows how Barnardo’s develops with Local Authorities/LEA’s partnerships for the support of children and families locally on the Isle of Wight, and how voluntary income is vital to the charity which includes almost half coming from gift in wills”.

Entrance is free and light refreshments will be provided. For further information and to book your place, please contact Paul Beard on 07972 896 884.
