Ryde Cemetery Restoration Project

Restoration works in Ryde Cemetery commenced on 18 January 2010.

Restoration works in Ryde Cemetery commenced on 18 January 2010, as part of the Ryde Cemetery Restoration Project which is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and the Isle of Wight Council.

The work is expected to last for 26 weeks completing on 30 June 2010. Although all the chapel buildings, Bothy, selected pathways and boundaries will be undergoing restoration works the Cemetery will remain open to members of the public as usual and for any burials that may take place during the period.

The contractor undertaking this work (Osborne Construction Ltd) will have a permanent site office in place for the duration of the restoration works.

Two main information boards will be placed at both Pellhurst Road and West Street entrances detailing contact numbers related to this project for use as necessary. In addition to this, there will be information displayed on a weekly basis with updates on the progress of the restoration programme.
