January 2010 Additions to records

Apologies for the lateness of this news item, but in January 2010 our small but busy research team added detail to another 19 records on the website. Not as many as usual but this was due to the inclement weather and winter ailments.

Apologies for the lateness of this news item, but in January 2010 our small but busy research team added detail to another 19 records on the website. Not as many as usual but this was due to the inclement weather and winter ailments.

January’s additions are mainly census and marriage details but there is also include:

* Details of the funeral of Mrs Polly Ballantyne, the wife of Mr George Ballantyne, vice chairman of the County Council in 1946;

* The sad death a young man called Goodman who was staying at the Hazelwood “Home of Rest and Recreation. Although he was unwell his death in March 1883 was still a shock;

* The death and funeral notice for Miss Ada Kate Holt in 1946. She had been a life long resident of Ryde and was popular and loved by all who came into contact with her;

* Details of the life and death of Sir John MacGregor MD KCB in January 1866.
