NEW EXHIBITION AT RYDE CEMETERY

Heritage Centre Ryde Cemetery

Our new Exhibition for November in the South Chapel at Ryde Cemetery has a theme of remembrance and war time in Ryde.

There is also a display and information, including a DVD, from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

We have moved our exhibition on Living Memories from the Library to the South Chapel. This exhibition includes school photographs and information on shops and concerts in Ryde within Living Memory and we encourage visitors to add their memories to our growing archive.

In addition we still have a display containing information on the newly devised Ryde Cemetery Heritage Trail and copies of the booklet of the trail are available for a small donation.

This exhibition will be on display for the whole of November.

During the week the Heritage and Learning Centre is manned by a Cemetery Warden, Don Trafford, who is employed by the Isle of Wight Council. At weekends the Centre is manned by unpaid volunteers. We intend to keep the centre open as much as we can, but we are a small group so if you are able to help out at any time please get in touch or visit the Centre to find out more.
