RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch 2012 – Ryde Cemetery results

Crow in the Cemetery
Crow in the Cemetery

It was a bitter cold day on Saturday 28 January but 8 brave soles joined us for the Big Garden Birdwatch in Ryde Cemetery.

We saw far less birds than last year although we could hear lots of chatter in the trees where no doubt they were sheltering from the wind and cold.

Here are the numbers of the birds we saw:

4 Blackbirds
2 Bluetits
2 Carion Crows
2 Chaffinches
2 Coal tits
0 Collared doves
0 Dunnocks
2 Ferral Pigeons
0 Goldfinches
0 Great tits
0 Greenfinches
4 House sparrows
0 Jackdaws
0 Long-tailed tits
1 Magpie
2 Robins
0 Song thrushes
0 Starlings
10 Woodpigeons
0 Wrens
12 Seagulls

We normally see the Green Woodpecker when we are in the cemetery but unfortunately not this time.

After an hour in the cold and wind we were able to warm up in the Heritage Centre with tea, coffee and biscuits and some friendly chat.

Many thanks to all involved this year.

The National results will be collated and published by RSPB in due course.
