Victorian Christmas at Ryde Cemetery 9 December 2015

VICTORIAN GET TOGETHER

About 30 members and friends enjoyed a Victorian Christmas celebration at Ryde Cemetery Heritage and Learning Centre on Wednesday 9th December. The twin chapels had both been decorated and had various Christmas displays so it all looked very festive. Following the recent school visits some of the children’s work was exhibited, including stained glass windows and a winter forest.

People enjoyed chatting, viewing the archive and checking out the new RSHG website. A variety of sweet and savoury refreshments were available and books and Christmas cards were on sale. Many cuddly toys of all shapes and sizes were collected as a donation to Bereavement Services.

As always we had a few of our members dressed up in traditional Victorian costume for the event. It does help to attract the interest of passers by!
