St David’s Day Nature Walk 1 March 2016

St David's Day Nature Walk

The original idea was that on the 1st of March, the meteorological first day of Spring, we would invite anyone who was interested to join us in Ryde Cemetery for a stroll round to spot signs that Spring was on its way and also to chat, browse our archives and enjoy some refreshments. A simple enough idea so what could possibly go wrong?

The strong winds and driving rain reduced the attendance to some sixteen hardy souls, all of whom quite sensibly decided that this particular sign of Spring was best observed from the comfort and warmth of the North Chapel. We were able to enjoy good conversation, undertake some interesting research and warm ourselves on cups of soup. We also enrolled a new member which nicely rounded off the day.
