Loss of Cypress tree
One of the oldest Cypress trees in Ryde Cemetery has been lost. In 2013 the IW Gardens Trust reported this tree was virtually dead and since then it has deteriorated further to the point of becoming dangerous with the threat of dead branches falling in the wind.
In the last week skilled contractors have cut down the tree.
The photographs show the work in progress, a task made more difficult as the base of the tree had become filled with soil and debris which can cause chainsaws to jam and become lodged in the tree.
No sooner than the canopy of the tree was removed, the flowers underneath bloomed.
