Party on the Green

It has been a real pleasure to have been part of “The Party on the Green” this year.

This is the first year that the RSHG have had a display at this event and over the three days, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th August, it was very busy.  We had a few teething problems, but we have certainly learnt from the experience.  The weather was kind to us and rather hot on the Friday. We had various folders from the centre for people to peruse, as well as sales of our books.

Over 70 people came to our display, talking and some reminiscing for quite a while with us. Two people signed up as members on the spot and others were interested in joining the group.  There were a few enquiries from people who we were able to help and others showed interest in looking at our archive in the Cemetery Heritage Centre.  People have also shared some photos with us.  Overall the weekend took a lot of hard work, but with a lot of satisfaction too.

It was very pleasing that some of our members came along to see what was going on and to show their support.

A great many thanks for all the help we received.
