Rest In Peace

It is with great sadness we have to relate that two of our most loyal, long term members, have passed away in the last couple of weeks.  Our thoughts go out to their families at this time.

David’s presentation 2017

David Harris
In 2007, David volunteered to go to the record office each week, when there was a need for someone to assist the research team.  This was a task he loved ever since and relished the challenge of the search.  He was very well liked by the staff at the record office, with his quiet dedication, enthusiasm, thirst for knowledge and lovely sense of humour.  David attended all the group functions, and gave us a talk in 2017, his presentation covered the period when he was growing up in Ryde between 1940 and 1952.  David was a very unassuming person and a great friend to us all.  He will be hugely missed.

Bubbles transcribing 2008

Rosemary (Bubbles) Smith
A great supporter of the group, Bubbles was a member of the transcribing team in the early days, and thoroughly enjoyed her Saturday mornings working in Ryde Cemetery.  She attended all the functions, usually being one of the first to arrive.  Bubbles could chat easily to everyone, be it friends or visitors, and would enjoy reminiscing about the area of Haylands that she had lived in for many years.  We have all enjoyed many laughs with her over time.  She was a lovely lady, and a dear friend,  Bubbles will be so very much missed by all of us.
