Walking Festival May 2023

We had an amazing time for our first “IW Walking Festival” involvement. The walks were fully booked on the Tuesday 16th and Saturday 20th, as well as other visitors who came along. The feedback was very positive.

There was an awful lot of organization needed, so thanks go to Margaret for her research and preparation of the walks, this made it a brilliant success. We had the Mortuary/St. Paul’s Chapel open for the first time, with displays and artefacts, and a detailed history of the chapel which Ann researched. The walk took about an hour then, continuing round much of the cemetery, featuring the interesting everyday people. There were further displays in the South and North Chapels, and again history relating to their past.

Refreshments were available, with cakes.  People were looking in our archives, some staying till almost closing time.

I would like to thank all the people who helped to make this event possible and make it such a good success.
