Charlotte Catherine Wyles was the long-time proprietress, as listed on all the advertisements between 1902 and 1916. Later adverts gave the names of H. and M. Wyles. Mrs and Miss Wyles were shown to be the proprietors of the Osborne Private Hotel on the Esplanade from about 1927, including 1935, perhaps before, their telephone number was Ryde 88. Mrs. Wyles died in 1943, aged 86.
Advertisement in the Ryde & Seaview Guide of 1935 stated Dean House Private Hotel, Near the Pier, Unobstructed view of the Esplanade Gardens & Sea. Opposite Bathing and Boating Slipways. Near Bowling Greens and Tennis Courts. Moderate Terms. Proprietors H. & M. Wyles.
In 1947 it was advertised as being re-opened under new management – no name, just Proprietress. The advert stated: Ideal situation, one minute from Esplanade, Pier and Boating Lake, unrestricted view of sea from the Lounge and Bedrooms, Liberal Table, Hot water constantly available. Open from April onwards.
Proprietor for the following years was G. Coad, 1954, 1955, 1964, 1965.
Dean House also had a good reputation for its food and commodious accommodation where private clubs and organisations could hold events such as annual dinners, etc. Many such gatherings were noted in the local press with excellent reviews.
