Summer Social Morning 4 July 2026
On Saturday 4th July, RSHG held their Summer Social Morning. The weather was beautiful, which encouraged people to come out. The venue at the Baptist Church in George Street, Ryde, was air-conditioned, so very comfortable.
Members and visitors collected their teas and coffees when they arrived and proceeded to socialise. Most obtained raffle tickets to partake in the draw for useful prizes, to aid the group fund-raising effort.
After a short while, Richard Smout (President) welcomed the members, friends and visitors who had very kindly come to support the Ryde Social Heritage Group that morning, even though there were many other events going on.
At approximately 11am our speaker for the morning was introduced, Mark Earp, who gave us a splendid talk with illustrations, called, IW Cornucopia No 3, “Veterans, Vectinisians, and Very tall tales.” As usual we enjoyed Mark’s presentation, he kept everyone’s interest and some parts generated a laugh, also questions asked afterwards.
Many thanks to Mark Earp, and the RSHG volunteers for helping to make our social morning a success.
