Bernard was one of 6 brothers and 3 sisters. His parents were Hubert and Gertrude Groundsell. During the war he was with the fleet airarm in Canada training pilots and I believe also in Italy. His family come from Newport and lived along the Mall. After the war he came back to the Island and worked in the family estate agents (Groundsells of Newport) however unfortunately he developed cancer and died in 1949 aged 46 leaving his wife Bronwen to bring up 3 daughters alone.
