A COMPANION OF THE MOST HONOURABLE MILITARY
ORDER OF THE BATH
A CAPTAIN IN THE ROYAL NAVY (1810)
AN OFFICER HIGHLY AND JUSTLY ESTEEMED
FOR HIS NUMEROUS GALLANT AND SUCCESSFUL ENCOUNTERS
WITH THE ENEMIES OF HIS COUNTRY;
HE WAS AN INTREPID AND SKILFUL SEAMAN,
AN AFFECTIONATE FRIEND AND A BENEVOLENT CHRISTIAN.
HIS LOSS IS DEEPLY LAMENTED BY A LARGE CIRCLE OF ACQUAINTANCES
WHO KNEW AND APPRECIATED HIS WORTH.
HE DIED ON THE 4TH DAY OF MARCH 1844
IN THE 69TH YEAR OF HIS AGE

HIS MORTAL REMAINS ARE DEPOSITED IN THE VAULT OF THIS
CHURCH
