Other Information: Additional Information supplied by Richard Chase: Joseph was born in Portsea, the son of a dockyard worker in 1783, he was christened 24 October 1783. He married Mary Hayter, from Gosport on 7 June 1807. They lived at 70 North Street and Joseph was employed as a Quarterman in the dockyard. They had four children, Joseph Aken, Catherine Hayter, Thomas James Hayter, and Alfred John. Thomas James Hayter Chase became Superintendant of Police for the Isle of Wight and later married Eliza Corke 8th June 1844 at Northwood Church.
