I now have a great story of this amazing family of British Army Bandmasters, all from Ryde, to pass on to my grandchildren. I should point out that when the great war broke out in 1914, all the children and grandchildren of R A Cooke returned to Ryde, and were in the most part, raised in Ryde. I have attached a scan of a photo of the children of Louisa, (grandchildren of R A Cooke) that was taken on a boating outing on Aug 29 1920 Their Father, William Kenaelly, died in India on June 6 1920 They never again saw him after they left India in 1914. The young lady on the far left (Age 16) is my mother Louise, on the far right is her younger sister Eileen, and the young man in the centre sitting on the gunwale (blond, no glasses), is William Kenaelly III, who went on to a long career in the RAF, from the late 20's to at least 1950, and ended as a Squadron Leader. The photo was taken on Ryde Canoe Lake".
