Mr Thomas Hellyer

Title: Mr
Forenames: Thomas
Surnames: Hellyer
Date of Death: 18/03/1894
Burial Date: 22/03/1894
Age at Death Years: 82
Grave Type: Marked
Map Reference Number: RSHG 008 B1
Plot Number: Ryde Old Cemetery Section M Plots 1762 & 1763
Grave Description: Raised walled grave, with peon top on tiled ledger slab, very ornate and unusual shaped cross at west end. Restoration has revealed that Thomas Hellyer is included in a very faint inscription on the south face of the grave.

Grave Condition Description: The grave had been overgrown for many years, and was cleared in 2005 just enough to reveal the inscription and the ornate tiled top. The tiles from the south side of the grave are all missing, but they are intact on the north side. The cross is held in place by the ivy and appears to be cracked. This grave really needs restoring but RSHG has now left it to become overgrown again as this should help protect it. Update in February 2009 the grave was cleared by a workgroup, the cross from the top of the monument seems to have disappeared. Recent restoration has revealed the grave.
