Grave Description: Large ledger stone on step, high gabled cruciform top, all on wide stone base. Quatrefoil nset with fleur-de-lys cross motif on west gable, trefoil inset family shield motifs on north and south gables. Engraved lettering

Grave Condition: Fair
Grave Condition Description: Brambles beginning to overgrow grave - September 2011, cleared February 2012

South side very sunken , inscription no longer visible, top east end broken off, north side inscription is just legible. Base split in two places on north side. Ivy, thick moss and lichen cover on stone - November 2020

Other Information: This is the first recorded burial in Binstead Cemetery. The grave was cleared of ivy and brambles by IWC contractors January 2012.
There is a memorial plaque for William Banning within Binstead Holy Cross Church.
