Grave Description: Simple marble cross, which would have been standing on a three-part plinth. Lead lettering. The bar of the cross has a central motif, two circles around a double bar cross, with the words IN HOC SIGNO VINCES between the two circles (Spring 2005).

Cross and plinth restored (2017).

The motto translates "In this sign you will conquer"; vinco -is, vici victum vincere has also the meaning of 'to conquer'. The motto is attributed to Constantine, who had a vision of the cross with crossed spears before a battle, and in this instance could be transltaed as 'shall win', since it is a promise of victory in the battle of the following day. So the motto can be translated - In this emblem/sign you shall win.

Grave Condition Description: Cross broken from the plinth and now in two pieces (Spring 2005).
