Kate was born Kate Mantle 1897 Ryde I o W daughter of James Mantle & Rose Charlo. She was widowed at the age of 36 and never remarried. She lived at St John's Hill and had 5 children. She did war work during WW1 and fire watch in WW2. For many years she worked at St Helens Laundry, Oakfield.
