Aug 2nd, 1906: At a sale by auction in London on Thursday, the Victoria Cross medals and badge and Legion of Honour, awarded to the late Mr. W. T. RICKARD, realised £80, the purchaser being Canon VALBY of Winchester.

Aug 9th 1906: On Thursday a bazaar and garden fete was held at The Bays, for the purpose of providing funds for erection of a club room in connection with St. Michael’s, Swanmore. Mrs. MAYBRICK declared the fete open and was presented with a flower bouquet.

Aug 16th, 1906: The cemetery committee reported that they had considered a plan showing two small additional plots which it appears desirable to include for consecration and the consent of the Home Office Secretary has been obtained to this proposal and they recommend the plan referred to be approved.

Aug 16th, 1906: The Grosvenor Ladies’ Orchestra will give performances at the Bandstand (if wet or windy in the Pavilion) every day from 11 to 1 and from 3 to 5. Deckchairs 1d. and 2d. Collections for Band Funds.

Aug 23rd, 1906: Today (Thursday) the annual Ryde Regatta off the Pier will take place and an attractive programme has been arranged. The sport will commence at 2 o’clock and illumination of the pier will take place on the 24th.

Aug 8th 1906: After a lapse of some years, Ryde is to have a carnival, and there is every prospect that it will prove quite as successful as any of its predecessors. The last one was held in 1901.
