Sept 13th 1906: Sports – On Thursday under the auspices of the Ryde Cricket and Football Clubs, a successful series of athletic sports took place at Partlands. There was a large attendance of interested spectators.

Sept 20th 1906: Ryde Bench – At the sitting on Tuesday the license of the Lake Huron at Haylands was temporarily transferred, on the application of Mr. H. SWEETMAN, from Donald C. COCKBURN to Charles FALLICK.

Sept 1st 1906: A Narrow Escape – On Tuesday a rather serious accident happened at the electric-light works, in the shape of the bursting of one of the cylinders of the three cylinder gas engine, which was about to be put on to the production of the current in the evening, one of the employees had a narrow escape. The supply was maintained on Tuesday night from the accummulators.

Sept 8th 1906: New Rate – It is proposed that the next general district rate shall be one of 2s. in the £. The corresponding rate last year was 2s.4d.

Sept 8th 1906: Spendid Parade – There was an illuminated cycle parade on Thursday night, the procession was marshalled in Lind-street by Messrs. H. W. TAYLOR, R. FRY, and B. H. GULLIVER and headed by the Town Band, proceeded via St. Thomas’s-street.

Sept 8th 1906: Third-class train tickets – These are issued on the Newport and Ryde line at various times throughout the day. The 500 mile tickets – the daily issue of these popular Weekly Season Tickets will continue until 30 September. These tickets entitle the holder to travel 500 miles for 10/6d.

Sept 15th 1906: New Appointment – The managers of Holy Trinity School have appointed Mr. G. JANAWAY, for a long time assistant master, headteacher of the boys department in succession to Mr. J. H. DIXON, appointed to Oakfield.
