In May our busy research team added 33 biographical records to names on the website, including that of Edward Vinter Matthews.


To toast Her Majesty on the event of her 90th birthday, an open day was held at Ryde Cemetery Heritage and Learning Centre on Tuesday 19th April.


In March our busy research team added 40 biographical records to the website, including that of three members of the well-known Purnell family of Ryde, who ran a business at 7 and 8 High-street


40 people attended the recent RSHG Members Meeting at the George St Centre. After the business of the meeting our visiting speaker, Sheila Caws, gave a presentation - "A Gentleman's View around Ryde." This was a fascinating talk on Fernao de Castel Branco, the self-styled Count of Ryde.


St Michael’s and All Angels Church, Swanmore held another morning of memories, this time with a childhood theme. Four members of the Ryde Social Heritage Group went along to share their experiences


The original idea was that on the 1st of March, the meteorological first day of Spring, we would invite anyone who was interested to join us in Ryde Cemetery for a stroll round to spot signs that Spring was on its way.
