Mr Charles Doland Crisp was appointed headmaster of Ryde Upper Grade School on 3 October 1892, at a salary of £200.
The station was opened by the Ryde and Newport Railway in December 1875 and closed February 1966.
The Chapel was full with over 30 people attending, with the Rev Kerry Birch from the Baptist Church leading the worship.

As advertised 14 Sept 1895, on Friday and Saturday next we are to have a visit from Mr. Alfred Capper, the celebrated thought reader.
In June 1906, the "Riviera" Boarding Establishment was advertising: Ideal Winter Residence, Access to public gardens on the sea front, Separate tables, Electric light, Baths, Smoking lounge, Suites of rooms.
The new steam fire engine purchased by the Corporation was formally christened on Thursday afternoon 8th October 1908, the ceremony being followed by a short display in St. Thomas’ Square which was watched with much interest by a large number of people.
It was a fine day and we had 45 people at this year’s AGM, including 9 visitors and our 2 speakers.
We will be holding a short Service of Remembrance in the South Chapel at Ryde Cemetery, on Saturday 11th November 2023, at 3pm.
