On Tuesday morning 15th November 2016, under gloomy skies, our latest Fungi Walk took place at Ryde Cemetery under the guidance of Dr Colin Pope of the Isle of Wight Natural History and Archaeological Society.

Our 1916 Centenary Commemoration culminated in a Service of Remembrance conducted by Canon Graham Morris in the South Chapel of Ryde Cemetery on Thursday evening 10th November 2016.
RSHG will be holding a drop-in day on Tuesday 15 November 2016 beginning at 10.30am when Dr Colin Pope will lead a Fungi Walk around the cemetery
The young people of 3rd Ryde Girls Brigade and Year 6 at Greenmount Primary School have been sharing our research on Ryde men who lost their lives at Jutland and the Somme. They have made two Books of Remembrance with very thoughtful comments.
Now that the grass has been cut in the conservation area of the cemetery it looks very different, and we can see many things that were previously hidden from view.
The Group has been very busy during the last couple of weeks continuing with work related to the First World War Centenary Partnership which we joined in 2014. This year our focus is on 1916 and the two major battles of that year, Jutland and the Somme.
RSHG have received another award, a Certificate of Excellence for the South & South East in Bloom, associated with Ryde Cemetery
The RSHG Annual General Meeting was held at the George St Centre on Saturday 8 October with an attendance of 42 people.
On Saturday 1st October 2016, 26 members visited St. Michael & All Angels Church, Swanmore, Ryde.
